Maths competition gives kids the chance to win iPod
Children in the US are being invited to participate in an online maths competition to win a selection of gadgets, including an iPod .
In celebration of National Math Awareness Month, Raytheon is urging middle school students across the country to take part in the Math Match, which will challenge students to answer real-world maths questions in an online contest.
The top performers will be offered an HP Pavilion laptop, a Kodak EasyShare digital camera or a 30-gigabyte iPod .
In addition, the school with the most participants will be awarded a Staples gift certificate valued at $500 (£249).
The competition began yesterday, April 17th, with entrants logging on to Raytheon's MathMovesU website.
Mathematics Awareness Month was first held in 1986 and now takes place each year in April, with the aim of teaching the public to understand and appreciate maths.
In the meantime, the Sheridan school district in Arkansas is set to launch iPod and WiFi-enabled buses in the area, engadget reports.
