With all the new (and old) iPods on the
market it is easy to get confused with what iPod you actually own.
Well to make life easier for you we, at iWorld, have listed all the
iPods that are available to buy! Take a look at the pictures above
to identify your iPod and then use the compatibility icons on each
listing (and outlined below) to make sure the accessory you buy
will work with your iPod.

Check out iWorld’s iPod
compatibility icons at the bottom of every listing to see if your
iPod is compatible with your chosen accessory. Below is a guide to
our compatibility icons so you can be totally sure the accessory
you buy will work with your iPod. There's an icon for every iPod as
well as icons for docking iPods and all other iPods. And if you're
still in doubt and want to be sure that the accessory will work
with your iPod, refer to the text in the listing for more specific
compatibility.

iPhone
The iPhone is a mobile phone iPod.
Featuring a large touchscreen you can make and take phone calls,
send text messages, listen to music, view videos and browse the
Internet via Wi-Fi or EDGE. The headphone jack is slightly recessed
so you’ll need a headphone adaptor if you want to use
different headphones. This icon means that the accessory will work
with the 4GB, 8GB or 16GB iPhone.

iPod Touch
A touchscreen, a Wi-Fi web browser and a
CoverFlow interface are the main features of the new iPod Touch.
The iPod Touch features a large multi-touch screen from which you
can control all your music, photos, videos and web browsing. This
icon means that the accessory will work with the 8GB, 16GB or 32GB
iPod Touch.

iPod Classic
The new iPod Classic has a sleek, all
metal design and is available with either 80GB or 160GB of storage.
You can enjoy both audio and video playback, up to 40 hours of
audio playback and features the new CoverFlow interface. This icon
means that the accessory will work with any type (colour and size)
of the iPod Classic.

New iPod nano (3rd
Generation)
The new iPod nano 3G is thinner and
shorter than the previous iPod nanos and features video playback
thanks to a larger, brighter display that delivers great picture
quality. When you see this icon the accessory will work with any of
the five new colours and both 4GB and 8GB versions.

iPod shuffle (2nd
Generation)
The new iPod shuffle also doesn't have a
screen. It plugs into the computer via an included USB dock. It has
a small thumb control but no wheel. If you see this icon it means
that the product works with any colour of the new 1GB iPod
shuffle.

iPod nano (2nd
Generation)
The iPod nano has both the dock connector
port (USB compatible) and the headphone jack on the bottom of the
iPod. It has a colour screen and Apple's click wheel. This icon
means that the product will work with the 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, iPod
nano 2G models of any colour.

iPod video (5th
Generation)
The iPod with video capabilities comes
in 3 hard drive sizes, 30GB, 60GB and the more recent 80GB. It
has a dock connector port on the bottom that syncs and
charges via USB but not FireWire. It has a colour screen and
Apple's click wheel. This icon means that the accessory will work
with any black or white iPod video.

All dock
iPods
Docking iPods include all the new iPods
(iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Classic, new nano
3G) as well as the 2nd Generation nano, 1st
Generation nano, iPod video 5th Generation, iPod
mini, iPod Photo, 4th Generation iPods and
finally 3rd Generation iPods. This icon means that the
accessory will work with any of the iPods detailed above no matter
what the colour or size!

All other
iPods
If you see the All Other iPods icon on a
listing then you can be sure that the product will work with
any iPod – newer, recent or older iPod models.
These accessories either usually connect with the iPod via the iPod
3.5mm headphone jack or don’t need to connect to the iPod at
all! Please note this does not include the
iPhone.

Older iPod
Compatibility Icons
Some iPods grow older and no longer have
quite the cache they used to have. These include the 1st
Generation nano, iPod mini, iPod Photo, 4th
Generation iPods, 3rd Generation iPods as well as the
1st and 2nd Generation iPods. The icons for these older
iPods are outlined below and are still used on iWorld so you can be
sure that the accessory you want to buy will work with your older
iPod.

iPod nano (1st
Generation)
The iPod nano 1G is the first iPod nano
introduced by Apple and has both the dock connector port (USB
compatible) and the headphone jack on the bottom of the iPod. It
has a colour screen and Apple's click wheel. This icon means that
the product will work with the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB, black and white
iPod nano models.

iPod shuffle (1st
Generation)
The 1st generation iPod shuffle doesn't
have a screen and plugs directly into your computer via the USB
port. It has a small thumb control but no wheel. If you see this
icon it means that the product works with the 512MB or the 1GB
older iPod shuffle.

iPod mini
The iPod mini comes in 5 colours and 2
hard drive sizes. It has a dock connector port on the bottom that
syncs and charges with USB or FireWire. The screen is black and
white monochrome (blue and white on later models) and has Apple's
click wheel. This icon means the product will work with any iPod
mini (4GB or 6GB) in any colour.

iPod Photo
This iPod has a USB and FireWire
compatible dock connector on the bottom of the iPod and a headphone
port on top. It has a colour screen and Apple's click wheel. This
icon covers a few iPods - the iPod photo (30GB, 40GB and 60GB), the
iPod with colour screen (20GB and 60GB) and the colour screen
Special Edition U2 iPod. As these iPods are different sizes, you
will need to check on the listing as to what size accessory will
work with your particular size of iPod.

4th Generation
iPod
The 4th Generation iPod has a USB and
FireWire compatible dock connector on the bottom of the iPod and a
headphone port on top. It features the Apple click wheel as well as
a blue and white monochrome screen. If you see this icon it means
the accessory will work with the 20GB and 40GB iPods and the
non-colour screen U2 iPod. Refer to the product listing for
compatibility with different sizes.

3rd Generation
iPod
The 3rd Generation iPod has 4 small
buttons under the screen and a touch wheel. It is USB and FireWire
compatible for synching, but will charge only with FireWire. It has
a black and white monochrome display. This icon means that the
accessory will work with the 10GB, 15GB, 20GB, 30GB or 40GB. As
there is quite a difference in sizes refer to the product listing
for more specific size compatibility.

1st & 2nd Generation
iPod
These iPods have a scroll wheel and 4
buttons circling the wheel. They connect to sync and charge via
FireWire on top of the iPod and do not have a dock connector port.
They have a black and white monochrome display. The accessories
bearing this icon will fit the 5GB, 10GB and 20GB, 1st and 2nd
Generation iPod models.
